The 10th ANPAD Public Administration Conference – EnAPG 2025 will be held from June 11th to 13th,2025 at Universidade Federal de Goiás. The conference is promoted by ANPAD – Brazilian Academy of Management, under the responsibility of the academic division of Public Administration (APB).
Central theme: Public Administration in the 21st Century: the challenges of Digital Transformation, the Climate Crisis and Democracies
The 10th ANPAD Public Administration Conference proposes an in-depth reflection on the challenges shaping Public Administration. With the theme “Public Administration in the 21st Century: the challenges of Digital Transformation, the Climate Crisis and Democracies”, the conference seeks to promote debate and the construction of innovative solutions to emerging issues that impact contemporary society.
Digital transformation has reshaped public administration globally, promoting greater transparency, efficiency and accessibility in public services (OECD, 2020). In Brazil, the digitization of administrative processes and the use of emerging technologies such as blockchain, artificial intelligence and open data represent both opportunities and challenges for improving public management (Brasil, 2021). These advances require strategies to guarantee digital inclusion and personal data security, ensuring equal access for citizens. In addition, these transformations can enable actions to mitigate the climate crisis and strengthen democracies.
The climate crisis is one of the biggest global challenges of the 21st century, requiring coordinated and sustainable responses (IPCC, 2021). Brazil, with its extensive territory and vast biodiversity, occupies a strategic position on the global environmental agenda (OECD, 2022). Thus, governments face the task of coordinating governance to implement effective policies, mitigate environmental impacts, promote renewable energies and balance economic development and environmental preservation.
Another challenge is the instability of contemporary liberal democracies, threatened by disinformation, polarization and institutional weakening (Norris; Inglehart, 2019). In Brazil, strengthening citizen participation and consolidating accountability instruments are essential to increasing trust in democratic institutions (IPEA, 2020).
EnAPG 2025 will be a space for academics, public managers and specialists to exchange experiences and knowledge. The event seeks not only to reflect on current challenges, but also to point out innovative ways to build and consolidate a more effective, transparent and inclusive public administration in the face of the demands of the 21st century.
